The Harrogate Rambling Club is really good fun, offering walks in pleasant company in the beautiful dales and moors of North Yorkshire. In these web pages, you will find information about what we do and how to join us - please come in and have a look!

Background Information

We have a wide range of walks for people of all levels of fitness and experience, and walks are normally available on Wednesdays and Sundays throughout the year, and occasionally on Thursday evenings during the summer.  Typically, we organise 30-35 walks each month, with lengths ranging from 4 miles to 15+ miles.

75th Anniversary Walks

On 6 Jul 2011, the Club celebrated its 75th anniversary with a very successful group of walks in the Great Alms Cliff area, the site of the very first walk, followed by tea in Huby Village Hall.  Pictures are here.

Automated System for Preparing Walks Listings

The Club has developed a trial semi-automated system for preparing walks listings, and it is available for use by any walk leader or walk collector that it willing to try it.  More details are available via the "Walks Slips" page.

Revised Membership Fees

It was agreed at the 2009 AGM that, with effect from 1 Jan 2010, the Club's annual membership fees would be increased to £10 (single) and £15 (double).  The one-off joining/rejoining fee would remain at £3.

Members' Photographs

The website now has a growing collection of members' photographs, but is always looking for more.  Go here to see some recent photo albums, including a new one by John Footman of 2011's splendid heather display in the North York Moors.

Important - Revised Walks Grades

Please note that revised walks grades were introduced from 1st April 2007, together with new start times.  Full details of the new grades are here, and the new start times are here.

Accidents

If you should be unfortunate enough to have an accident whilst on a club walk, please report it using the procedure here.

Path Obstructions

If you should encounter a blocked or otherwise unsatisfactory path, stile, etc., please report it using the procedure here.
